JIMS, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, has come a long way since it was established in 2003 as an affiliated institute of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. What began as an institute with a few programmes like BBA and BAACFAD, has since matured and grown into an institution with three Bachelor’s degree programmes in Business Administration, Computer Application and Mass Communication, each running in two shifts and admitting 115 students in each shift of BBA and 60 students in each shift of BCA and BJ(MC). The institute has also earned the distinction of being the only institute of the university to have been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore for its commitment to high quality standards of education. The institute has also earned ISO 9001:2008 quality certification from ACS Registrars, UK, for setting quality benchmarks in teaching-learning and support systems of education. It is as a result of these efforts that the students of the institute have been outshining others in the university exams. In BJ(MC) programme, the students of the institute have been consistently securing for the last three years the topmost position in the university examination. In BBA and BCA programmes too, the students of the institute have started capturing ranks in the top ten positions in these exams, including the top 3. Recognizing the efforts put in by the management of JIMS, Vasant Kunj, in upholding high quality standards, the university quality audit team has awarded the institute 76 per cent marks and has praised it in unequivocal terms for its excellent performance. The institute has been laying singular emphasis on faculty development by way of encouraging faculty to participate in faculty development programmes and seminars and conferences and even industry-internships. As a result of this encouragement, the faculty members have been engaging in research with a remarkable ardour and publishing quality papers and books. The institute has also been coming out with two research journals, both indexed internationally: one by the name of JIMS8M in management studies and another Mass Communicator in communication studies. Realizing its responsibility towards the society in general, especially the depressed sections, a Rotaract Club has also been established at the institute to initiate the students in social leadership roles. Also, a hallmark of our commitment to students beyond class room teaching is the excellent placement and pre-placement services we provide to them, by virtue of which they are able to measure up to the standards. The institute has also tied up with an international students’ body, AIESEC, IIT, Delhi, to groom leaders of tomorrow and to offer our students options of undergoing industry internships beyond Indian shores.
With a variegated fare of effective class room learning, extra-curricular activities and social leadership opportunities, our students can dare to not just dream big but also to see those dreams fructify with ease.
