The Union Budget Discussion was organized by the Department Of Management on 14th Feb 2017 at JIMS, Auditorium. The audience comprised of IV semester and VI semester students and faculty members of the management department. The speakers for the Union Budget Discussion were Professor R.K.Mittal, Director Development at GGSIP University and CA Bharat Bandhu, Head of Business Control at Ericsson, Gurgaon. The discussion began with an introduction by the HOD, Dr. Avtar Singh Sethi, he addressed the highlights of the Union Budget and the reasons why it was called a unique Budget, Prof. R.K.Mittal talked about the theoretical framework and public policy implications of the budget, the relationship between the macro variables and their role in the growth of the economy and the methodology of preparing the Budget. CA Bharat Bandhu in his detailed graphical presentation covered details on allocations of the budget in various sectors and whether it could be called a good budget or not, He also covered tax structure revisions and GST and highlighted the industry implications of the budget. He presented interesting insights on education sector and the global status of the Indian Economy, covering Ease of Doing Business Survey and Global Investments in India. The session concluded with a 15-20 minutes Q & A session where the students queries on Real and Nominal GDP, Niti Aayog, Demonetisation, etc Overall the session was informative, interactive and a learning experience for the students as well as the faculty members. The session started at around 10:45 am and concluded by 12:40 p.m as per the scheduled time.
