The Department of Information Technology organized the seventh National Seminar on “Cloud Computing Technologies” on 28thOct’2017at India International Centre, MaxmullerMarg, Delhi in collaboration with ICT, Academy, an initiative of the Government of India in collaboration with the state Governments and Industries. Around 250 students of BCA from VasantKunj and, Lajpat Nagar campuses attended the event with full enthusiasm and learning spirit. The event started with the warm welcome address by Director Dr. Ravi K Dhar. He gave a brief introduction about the institute and emphasized on the importance of such seminars for students. He also talked about emerging technologies in digital space and the need of processing huge user generated content and other relatedissues in the field of information technology. He motivated the students to exploreopportunities in emerging technologies. Mr. B. RaghavaSrinivasan, from ICT Academythe collaborating partner for the seminaralso addressed the students and introduced the eminent speakers. The next session was delivered by the keynote speaker Mr. Krishna Kant,Head, DELL EMC, Gurugram.He elucidatedcloud computing technologies and services. His session was very interactive as he also shared the incidences from his college life to relate with the students. This session was followed by an interesting session by Mr. AmitRawat from Amazon Web Services.He cautioned the students about challenges in the IT sector and walkthrough the gradual changes in cloud services. He advised students to upgrade and update their IT skills on a regular basis. The inaugural session was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. MeenakshiNarula,Head of Department of Information Technology. The first technical session was conducted by Mr. Manoj Jain,Software Development Director, Oracle Corporation, Noida. He elaborated the types of clouds and various terminologies in ccloud computing technologies.He also informed the students about the opportunities in this field. He advised students not to be only fascinated with new technologies as a user but also to be inquisitive as a technical person to know the reason and functionality behind the scene. The next inspiring and motivating session on recruitment trends in Cloud Technology was taken by Mr. Himanshu Chawla, Chief Operating Officer,IRIS Global Services, Delhi. He focused on the scope and job opportunities in the area of Cloud Computing. He also shared his experience with various IT organizations to inspire the students. The session was very informative and useful for the students as it gave an insight to them to explore new areas of employment. He also told about different certifications required by various business sectors using service under the umbrella of cloud technologies. His concluded his session by showing famous video by AdmiralMcRaven:10 lessons to change the world, which was very inspirational. The vote of thanks for the technical session was proposed by Dr..Harsha Ratnani, Associate Prof. in the department of Information Technology which was followed by Lunch.
