JIMS Greater Noida: Labour Court Visit on International Labour Day

The Department of Law organized an educational visit to Labour Court, Ghaziabad, on 1st May, 2026 on the occasion of “International Labour Day” for the students of B.A. LL.B. and BBA LL.B. 8th Semester. During the visit, students gained first-hand knowledge of the court proceedings and the mechanisms involved in resolving labour disputes. A key highlight of the visit was an interactive session with Mr. Subhash Saini, Presiding Officer-II, Labour Court, Ghaziabad. He elaborated on the jurisdiction, powers, and functions of Labour Courts and explained their significant role in safeguarding the rights of workers and maintaining industrial harmony. The students also had the opportunity to interact with senior advocates practicing in the Labour Court. The advocates shared practical insights from their professional experiences, discussed various aspects of labour litigation, and provided guidance on the application of labour laws in real-life situations. These interactions enabled students to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical legal practice.

The NSS Cell organized a “Plastic Collection Drive” on the theme “Clean Campus, Green Future” from 14th April to 5th May 2026. The drive motivated participants to actively contribute towards reducing plastic pollution by collecting and depositing plastic waste at designated collection points across the campus. Through this initiative, students were encouraged to adopt environmentally responsible habits and play an active role in maintaining a clean and sustainable campus environment. As part of the campaign, participants were also provided with an opportunity to visit a plastic recycling facility, where they gained valuable insights into the processes involved in plastic recycling and the significance of sustainable waste management practices. An International Academic Cooperation Agreement with Pathumthani University International College (PTUIC), Thailand, was held on 17th May 2026. The agreement was signed by Professor Dr. Anuj Verma, Director, JIMS Kalkaji, and Dr. Chhaynazar Khainajor, Director of International Affairs, PTUIC, in the presence of the visiting delegation comprising Dr. Chayarnithsarr Khanijor, Director of International Affairs, and Ms. Nadhawadee Manchanda, Student Counseling and Admissions Advisor. The agreement has been signed to promote student and faculty exchange, research collaboration, joint academic initiatives, curriculum enhancement, workshops, conferences, and inter-cultural learning opportunities. The second half of the event shifted into a vibrant cultural celebration organized by the Jhankaar Cultural Club. JIMS VK 1: Sharbat Distribution Drive

The NSS Cell organized a Sharbat Distribution Drive (Chabeel Seva) at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib on 12th April 2026 as part of its community service initiative. The activity aimed to serve refreshing sharbat to the public while promoting compassion, teamwork, and selfless service in alignment. Prior to the event, necessary permissions and arrangements were coordinated with the concerned authorities, and volunteers collectively contributed essential ingredients and materials to ensure hygienic preparation and distribution using disposable cups. Prepared on-site with proper cleanliness and teamwork, the sharbat was respectfully served to passersby and members of the local community.

On 24th April 2026, the NSS Cell organized “Charvaha 4.0” at the Gaushala. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, who actively engaged in feeding approximately 80–100 cows using around 280 kilograms of hay, while also spending time observing and interacting with the animals in a calm and gentle manner.

The Department of Law successfully organised “Dialogue Over Dispute” and Inter-Mediation Competition, 2026 from 15th to 16th April 2026. The event aimed to promote mediation as an effective alternative dispute resolution mechanism while providing students with practical exposure to negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills essential in the legal profession.The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who showcased their advocacy, analytical thinking, and interpersonal abilities through various rounds of simulated mediation sessions. The event was conducted in multiple stages, including the Preliminary Round, Semi-Final Round, and the Final Round, where participants demonstrated their capability to resolve disputes through dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding. The sessions were judged by esteemed legal professionals, including Mr. Priyanshu Jaiswal and Mr. O.P. Sharma, whose constructive feedback helped students gain deeper insights into the practical application of mediation and the evolving landscape of dispute resolution.

The Department of Law organized an Alumni Guest Lecture on “Fashion Law in Practice” on 16th April, 2026. The session was conducted by alumnus Ms. Ankur Sharma, (Batch 2019-24), CEO and Founder of Clause & Couture to provide students with practical exposure to the emerging field of Fashion Law and to bridge the gap between theoretical legal knowledge and practical application. During the session, the speaker also discussed the key aspects of Fashion Law, including intellectual property rights, contract law, labour law, drafting of contracts, copyright guidelines, and workers’ rights in the fashion industry. She further shared her practical experiences and real-life case studies, making the session highly engaging and informative. The lecture concluded with an interactive Q&A session.

The Department of Law, under the aegis of the Moot Court Society organized the 5th Jagannath Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2026 from 27th March to 18th April 2026. The competition witnessed participation from prestigious law institutions across India, aiming to enhance students’ advocacy, legal research, memorial drafting, and courtroom skills. The competition included Preliminary, Quarter-Final, Semi-Final, and Final Rounds judged by eminent legal professionals and former judges. The Final Round was presided over by Hon’ble Justice S.R. Singh and Hon’ble Justice Ravindra Singh.
