On October 23, 2024, the Placement Cell of JIMS, Vasant Kunj, hosted an enlightening guest lecture titled “Financial Planning for Wealth Creation and Protection” for the students of the management department. The session was conducted by Mr. Vimlesh K. Dhar, a retired General Manager from LIC, who shared his extensive knowledge gained over a 40-year career in Banking, Housing, Finance, and Life Insurance.

Mr. Dhar outlined three key requirements for wealth creation: understanding the growth of the Indian economy, choosing the right investments, and maintaining disciplined, patient investment strategies. He highlighted India’s growing equity culture, noting a significant increase in Demat accounts from 4 crores in March 2020 to 17.1 crores by August 2024, reflecting increased participation among younger investors.

Emphasizing the importance of diversification and insurance, Mr. Dhar described compound interest as the “eighth wonder of the world.” He encouraged students to start their financial planning early to fully benefit from the power of compound interest. The session concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving students with valuable insights into effective financial planning strategies.
